Along with the beautiful Backwaters, Alleppey is popularly known for their local delicious fish, Karimeen aka Pearl Spot, and for the famous Kuttanad Ducks. A trip to Alleppey is considered incomplete without trying out these delicacies and the one place that does justice in creating authentic dishes from these famous culinary celebrities of Alleppey is the Hotel Brothers Restaurant. The Karimeen Fry and Duck Roast served here are their signature variations that raise the bar for such dishes.
This was my second visit to this place and in my previous visit, I had tried their Ghee Roast Dosa and Appam and Egg Roast, all of which were good too. However, what makes me keep returning to this place is their Crispy Karimeen Fry and the Peppery Duck Roast. Famous amongst celebrities and locals alike, what makes the dishes at Hotel Brothers Restaurant stand out is the balanced use of simple spices, which does not overpower the meat but allows it to be the Hero of the dish.
Both the #karimeen and the #Duckroast are juicy and tender and tastes very fresh. Also, I must make an honorable mention of their crunchy Kerala Beef Fry, which according to me is right up there with all their best signature dishes. The only drawback is that they make their Appams in advance and hence, it is served at room temperature or slightly cold. I hope they fix that soon. On the plus side though, their Kerala Parothas are served piping hot.
Hotel Brothers Restaurant is Highly Recommended and A Must Visit if you want (and you should) try the best Duck Roast of Alleppey.
